The Role of Your Vehicle’s Shocks and Struts
Shocks and struts are key components of car’s suspension system and plays an important role in ensuring a smooth and stable ride.
Shock Absorbers (Shocks)
Shocks are designed to dampen and control the motion of your car’s springs. They absorb and dissipate the energy generated when the suspension springs compress and rebound due to bumps, potholes, or other road irregularities. Shocks help prevent excessive bouncing, vibrations, and oscillations in the vehicle, keeping tire contact with the road. They also keep passengers comfy by reducing any excessive jarring from rough roads.
Struts
These are a more complex component that combines the function of the shocks and a structural support element. Unlike shocks, struts are an integral part of the suspension and provide additional support to the vehicle’s weight. They also serve as a structural component that connects the wheel hub, spring, and steering knuckle. Struts are found in the front suspension while shocks are often found in the rear suspension.
To find the struts or shocks that are made for your vehicle, use the VIN or vehicle search filter to narrow down search results.
